A veterans outreach holiday party was held Thursday, Dec. 14, at the Jefferson Elks Lodge.
Greene County veterans could invite one guest to the event with approximately 120 people in attendance. A meal was served by the Lidderdale Country Store and music provided by Greene County Veterans Affairs director Mike Bierl.
After the meal and music, a veterans venefits briefing was presented by Bierl informing them of the federal, state and county benefits that are available based on eligibility.
Funds for the event were provided by the Iowa Department of Veterans Affairs annual county allocation. Each year this state organization provides each of the 99 Iowa counties an allocation to be used for the purposes of veterans outreach to ensure veterans are aware of the benefits available to them.
Veterans who are not receiving e-mails about veteran events are asked to e-mail Bierl at mbierl@greenecounty.iowa.gov or call 515-386-5673 to be added to the listing.
